Peter Guttchen

Everything I do – both personally and professionally - is grounded in my strong belief in people’s capacity and desire to come together, be productive, and make a positive difference in the world.

In my more than 20 years of experience working in both the public and private sector, and as a community leader, I’ve honed a set of skills to help people get meaningful work done. My experience includes work as:

  • A public involvement coordinator helping organizations resolve conflicts, reach agreement on a course of action, and get projects implemented.
  • A facilitator helping people come together, learn from each other, make decisions, and follow-through on their commitments.
  • A systems thinker helping teams develop a big-picture view of a work effort and its impacts, and helping organizations see new ways to solve problems and prevent unintended consequences.
  • A writer, editor, and public speaker helping organizations transform complex ideas and concepts into easy-to-understand and compelling language.

I hold a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University, a Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University of New York, and have completed advanced training in Public Involvement with the Institute of Participatory Management and Training.

I am active in my community and serve as president of my neighborhood association.  In that role, I’ve helped build long-term partnerships with public agencies and other community groups to make my neighborhood a better place to live.
